It has been an amazing year for The Small Glories! We cannot thank our fans and friends enough for the wonderful support you have shown us this year. Our sophomore release, "Assiniboine & the Red" has seen some fantastic success, we're still overwhelmed by how many have embraced us and our music. The album has been nominated for 4 Canadian Folk Music Awards, has also been named Album of the Year by Penguin Eggs magazine, and we've just been nominated for 'Artist of the Year' by Folk Alliance International. Wow! We found ourselves on a number of "Best Of" lists like NPRs Top 100 Artists to see at SXSW, and have received myriad notes and messages of love and support from across the planet. Thank you all!
There were so many great shows and experience across Canada, Europe and the USA that have filled our hearts and souls to the brim. We played many new and familiar venues and towns, and were blown away by the fans who continually surprised us with their passion, love and commitment to what we're doing. We found ourselves on top of the world in Haines-Junction, YK where we danced and sang on the Kluane icefields at the Kluane Bluegrass Festival; we drove along the western shore of Wales and admired the beautiful castles and sights of the land; we battled the traffic of New York City and Boston and LA; and of course performed for our fellow Canadians from coast to coast to coast. We found ourselves sharing stages with some of the world's finest musicians and artists at the Edmonton Folk Festival, The Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS, the Folks Festival in Lyons, CO, and Whidbey Island Music Festival near Seattle. We performed on some fabulous stages like MaCabes in LA, The Cutting Room in NYC, nearly all of the folk clubs in Calgary and Edmonton, The Green Note in London (UK), Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport MA, The Dakota Tavern in Toronto, The Old Church Concert Hall in Portland, and Hound Dog House Concerts in Santa Barbara overlooking the beautiful California coast line.
We look ahead to 2020 for even more great shows, songs and stories. We would like to thank our incredible team at Red House Records, SRO Artists, Paquin Artists Agency, and our publicists across the globe; our new pals at Grace Pro Audio Designs who set us up with some amazing new gear, our friends and supporters at Shubb Capos, Ear Trumpet Labs, K&K Pickups and John Pearse Strings; and to our amazing fans and friends who have housed us, fed us, got us out of a pickle or two, have driven us around the country and who have listened when we needed to chat. Thank you all for an amazing year and we look forward to another amazing trip around the sun!
