While we have thoroughly enjoyed the profound connection we have with our audience, and the ways in which our music has impacted and changed people's lives, we also recognize the need to take critical time to rest, restore and reflect. The demanding nature of our job often takes a toll on our relationships and on our own mental stability. Therefore, we feel the need to step back and go "home," both to be present with and to our people, and to reconnect with ourselves.

We firmly believe that being a musician is a privilege, and the act of singing harmony together is a deep and transformative experience. It is a connection that goes beyond words and touches the core of our beings. This connection has been one of the driving forces behind our musical journey. We understand that in order to continue creating and sharing music, we must first ensure our individual well-being.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported us on this incredible journey. Your love and appreciation for our music have been a constant source of motivation and inspiration to us.

After our December shows, we will be taking a break from performing. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time as we embark on this personal and musical hiatus.

Thank you for being a part of our lives and for sharing in the beauty of our music. We look forward to reconnecting with all of you down the road. 💜
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/72795542023-09-27T15:37:37-05:002023-10-16T09:47:06-05:00Harvesting Harmonies with The Small Glories: Autumn Tour and Christmas Cheer Await!
As the leaves start to change and the crisp autumn air settles in, TSG fans are in for a treat as The Small Glories embark on an exciting tour through the USA and gear up for their heartwarming Christmas shows. We are soaking up LIVE FESTIVALS once again! It feels a bit surreal to be playing them again! SUCH A GIFT! It feels life-giving and relieving. AND we are LOVING singing for festival audiences! We've missed you all so much! We know not everyone is comfortable yet in crowded settings, and we completely understand (we get a bit nervous at times too), so when you're ready, we'll be there for you! :)

Cara and JD have been working hard on some up-and-coming winter-themed concerts at the West End Cultural Centre in our hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Mark your calendars, Peggers! December 3 & 4, 2021. The night will be filled with laughter, stories and songs from some special guests and friends of the band, plus plenty of opportunity for our audience to sing along to their favourite TSG songs. We have been happily rehearsing and planning for this event and know that there will be something for everyone. It's been a hard year for everyone. We believe music can be a balm, offering some much-needed comfort. So we encourage you join us! If you are far away from Winnipeg, hold tight because we have loads of tours lined up for 2022. In fact we'll be passing through Western Canada at the end of January to bring some positive spirit to our people there. By the year's end we'll have gone coast to coast to coast and across the pond and back again, sharing as we always do, with all of you!
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/67623922021-09-30T15:52:17-05:002022-01-28T14:25:32-06:00US FALL TOUR POSTPONEMENT 2021
Friends, after very careful consideration of the numerous risks and logistical concerns posed by embarking on an international US tour at this time, we have regrettably come to the decision that we need to further postpone the remainder of our fall dates. International touring while the world is still in a pandemic and in a 4th wave is dramatically more fraught than domestic touring; the risks posed by so many unknown variables are well beyond our comfort zone, despite our best efforts in trying to overcome or ignore them. We were so looking forward to sharing some much-needed joy through music with our American friends and fans. After all, that's why we do what we do, so being forced to cancel is incredibly painful. These days call for transparency, care and understanding, and we’re immensely grateful for your support. Our team is working hard with each venue & presenter to reschedule our performances, and we look forward to when it is safe for us to leave Canada and sing for our American friends again in person. Take care of each other. Our hearts are aching, we miss you all terribly.
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/60542272019-12-31T19:23:21-06:002021-04-15T10:16:26-05:00So long 2019, hello 2020!!
It has been an amazing year for The Small Glories! We cannot thank our fans and friends enough for the wonderful support you have shown us this year. Our sophomore release, "Assiniboine & the Red" has seen some fantastic success, we're still overwhelmed by how many have embraced us and our music. The album has been nominated for 4 Canadian Folk Music Awards, has also been named Album of the Year by Penguin Eggs magazine, and we've just been nominated for 'Artist of the Year' by Folk Alliance International. Wow! We found ourselves on a number of "Best Of" lists like NPRs Top 100 Artists to see at SXSW, and have received myriad notes and messages of love and support from across the planet. Thank you all!

There were so many great shows and experience across Canada, Europe and the USA that have filled our hearts and souls to the brim. We played many new and familiar venues and towns, and were blown away by the fans who continually surprised us with their passion, love and commitment to what we're doing. We found ourselves on top of the world in Haines-Junction, YK where we danced and sang on the Kluane icefields at the Kluane Bluegrass Festival; we drove along the western shore of Wales and admired the beautiful castles and sights of the land; we battled the traffic of New York City and Boston and LA; and of course performed for our fellow Canadians from coast to coast to coast. We found ourselves sharing stages with some of the world's finest musicians and artists at the Edmonton Folk Festival, The Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso, NS, the Folks Festival in Lyons, CO, and Whidbey Island Music Festival near Seattle. We performed on some fabulous stages like MaCabes in LA, The Cutting Room in NYC, nearly all of the folk clubs in Calgary and Edmonton, The Green Note in London (UK), Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport MA, The Dakota Tavern in Toronto, The Old Church Concert Hall in Portland, and Hound Dog House Concerts in Santa Barbara overlooking the beautiful California coast line.

We look ahead to 2020 for even more great shows, songs and stories. We would like to thank our incredible team at Red House Records, SRO Artists, Paquin Artists Agency, and our publicists across the globe; our new pals at Grace Pro Audio Designs who set us up with some amazing new gear, our friends and supporters at Shubb Capos, Ear Trumpet Labs, K&K Pickups and John Pearse Strings; and to our amazing fans and friends who have housed us, fed us, got us out of a pickle or two, have driven us around the country and who have listened when we needed to chat. Thank you all for an amazing year and we look forward to another amazing trip around the sun!
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/58047202019-06-26T10:55:05-05:002019-12-20T12:57:45-06:00Assiniboine & the Red Drops in Two Days
Hey Folks,

We've just returned from Austin, TX where we showcased at SXSW. There were four performances in all and each one was definitely something special. On Thursday we had a chance to join our fellow Canadians at the BREAK OUT WEST showcase at 'Bungalow' in downtown Austin, followed by our late night Official Showcase in the Victorian Room at the legendary Driscoll Hotel on 6th street. Friday had us perform a set at the famed Maria's Taco Xpress just south of the city centre where the showcase was sponsored by Rebelle Road, a new LA based company that fiercely champions and showcases Americana music from the female vantage point. The final showcase was on the Saturday afternoon in the Austin Convention Centre on the Flatstock Stage. It was a great set and the large audience clapped and sang along as we did our thing. All in all it was a great experience at SXSW and we can't wait to get back down to Austin for another round of story and song!

We've officially wrapped up our touring for 2018, and are looking forward to a bit of rest from the road. The end of November saw us up in Iqaluit (what an experience), and then back home to Winnipeg for two under-the-radar house concerts (both sold out!). Our final show was this past weekend where we joined some hometown pals in a Christmas tribute concert to the great Stan Rogers. It's been a terrific couple of months and ending the year with these fantastic shows has been such an amazing treat. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported live local music in their communities. We are so grateful for your love and support on our journey.

As we take some time to be with our friends and family this holiday season we look back on a fantastic year of shows and events. From Australia to Iqaluit we have been performing to amazing audiences and communities with great success. Below are a few photos from our 6 week Canadian Winter/Australian summer tour through Queensland, Tasmania, and New South Wales with our good pal, Claire Anne Taylor. We were on The Festival of Small Halls Australia tour, with stops at The Woodford Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival. The last photo is JD posing with just some of the trophies we found on the road and decided to give them away to lucky audience members. People were over the moon when they found out they were receiving a trophy. Audiences danced, dressed up, made speeches, brought their pets and their kids. Check out the photo with Cara posing with one of our youngest trophy winners! Our time traveling through Australia was incredible. People were generous and kind, and the sights and sounds of the country will stay in our hearts and minds forever.

After a quick stop in Victoria, BC for Starfields: A Festival of Hope and then a jaunt across the country to the ECMA's in Halifax, NS we travelled across the Atlantic to tour through the Netherlands, Germany, England and Ireland. We made a bunch of new friends and fans as we drove on both sides of the road through mountains, low lands, coastal zones, cities and villages alike. We performed on the banks of the canal in Eindhoven, Netherlands, then near the banks of the Rhein in Saitenklange, Monheim am Rhein, and in the countryside near Elmshorn, where we made friends with the presenter Lotte, a local folk hero who introduced his to best stuffed friends (Billy and Molly) to Cara's driving partner, Curry the Monkey. We took the ferry to Pellworm Island to perform for the community there and saw seals along the way (they are the dots on the beach shown below).

After our mainland Europe shows we jumped the English Channel to perform nine more in the UK. We touched down in Durham, Sheffield, Birmingham, Leeds, London, Bradford on Avon and made an incredible stop to Square & Compass in Worth Matravers where the fog rolled in and took our view of the ocean away but brought an incredible audience who danced and sang with us for the whole evening. Our sold out show at the Green Note in London was also a highlight for us. We had old friends and new fans joining us on sing-along after sing-along. It was a fantastic night of music, stories and fun.

Finally, after twelve days in the UK we hopped another ferry across the Irish Sea and toured Ireland for the first time as a duo. We played Wexford, Cork, Kilkenny, Galway and just outside of Roscrea we performed in Leap Castle, the most haunted castle in Europe. We heard ghost stories and even heard some creaks in the floors as we sang. A fabulous dinner was served afterwards in the great hall with our hosts and friends from around the country. It was an amazing way to finish the tour. Below are some of the pictures of places we had visited.

After the winter and spring tours, TSG was heading into summer festival season in Canada. We went Coast to Coast, hitting the Sooke River Bluegrass Music Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, and the Calgary Folk Festival on the West, then over the prairies and Great Lakes to the East Coast for the Lunenburg Folk Festival. We met and hung out with some amazing artists like John Gorka and Eliza Gilkyson. Then we dipped South into the U.S.A. to perform at the legendary Philadelphia Folk Festival. It was our first time at this epic festival and we were glad to share the stage with our Canadian pals David Myles and William Prince.

After the summer heat left the land up North, we travelled back to the States to officially showcase at the AMA's (Americana Music Association/Awards Conference/Festival) and eat piles of BBQ as we tried to connect with new industry folk and artists. It was short trip but we made friends with a lovely record label down there called Compass Records who are bringing us into the fold and family to help us release our next album. Fingers crossed all goes well!

As the leaves were falling, TSG loaded up the van and headed back to the East Coast for a tour through Ontario, Quebec and The Maritimes. We kicked things off at Hugh's Room in Toronto, then performed on the most southern part of Canada just outside of Point Pelee, Ontario. We double backed through Ottawa, Kingston and Montreal, battling some Thanksgiving Holiday traffic and unseasonably warm temperatures. We made our way back to Charlottetown (where the duo wrote a few of their hits on the next record, as well as Summerside, PEI. We headed to a lovely rural community theatre in NS, then headed to New Brunswick to play our final 3 shows out East, including a stop at Canada's prettiest theatre, the Imperial Theatre in Saint John. After a short rest we busted back to the West Coast via Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Canmore, Revelstoke and Kaslo. We hit up Halcyon Hot Springs in the Kootenay Mountains during a rather treacherous winter drive, played a sold out show in Kaslo, checked on Cara's tiny purple house, drove the Hope-Princeton through Manning Park, coming out clean on the other side in time to play the Rogue Folk Club in Vancouver. Full house that night! It was awesome! Hopped one more ferry to perform in the great city of Victoria, BC and wrapped up in Langley BC at Bez Arts Hub with our dear friends Russ and Sandy Rosen. Some scary drives but we buckled down and made it through safe and sound and happy.

This year has been a fantastic one for The Small Glories. We performed on some new stages and made repeat visits to a few of our favourite stages in the country and beyond. We can't wait for what the new years holds for the duo, including a new record, new tours, new merch and so much more.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and love throughout the year, for coming out to shows, laughing at our stories, singing along, and sticking around after concerts to give us hugs. We can't wait to sing the new songs for you! Please keep your ears to the ground and your eyes glued to the TSG website for all the latest news and music. Much love to you and yours this holiday season, and have a very Happy New Year!

All our love,

Sorry for the delay, but we have been busy bees this year. After coming off a great six week tour of Australia this past January & February that included The Australian Festival of Small Halls in Tasmania and New South Wales, Woodford Folk Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival and Cygnet Folk Festival we immediately started work on our latest release Illawarra Sessions. We recorded a live off the floor, four song EP with Lindsay Martin at The Laundry in Wollongong. These are of some of our favourite cover songs; "Bring 'Em All In" by Mike Scott, "Don't Let it Bring you Down" by Neil Young, "The Christian Life" by Ira and Charlie Louvin and with our good pal Claire Anne Taylor the Crosby, Stills & Nash song "Helplessly Hoping". You can buy your own copy the next time you see us live or you can head on over to TSG STORE to get yourself copy NOW!
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/51203642018-03-09T15:58:58-06:002018-03-09T15:58:58-06:00Festival of Small Halls Australia, Woodford Folk Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival & Cygnet Folk Festival
The Small Glories have just come off an amazing tour in Australia. We would like to thank Chloe Goodyear, Head of Programming at Woodford Folk Festival, for inviting us to come to Australia and tour the country, share our music and stories with all the wonderful audiences and listeners alike.

We joined many incredible artists at Woodford Folk Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival and the Cygnet Folk Festival and brought the TSG spirit to small communities throughout the country on The Festival of Small Halls. We were paired off with an amazing Tasmanian artist, Claire Anne Taylor, and toured through her home state of Tasmania and New South Wales. Stopping at all the op shops and hipster coffee joints we could find. There were 10 small hall shows in each state bookended with the festivals mentioned above.

We performed in beautiful Tasmanian halls throughout in Rowellla, Longford, Rosevale, Sulphur Creek, Wynyard, Stanley, Queenstown, Cygnet, Dunalley, Triabunna, and Broadmarsh. In New South Wales we stopped in Bulli, Goulburn, Dalgety, Ganmain, Orange, Cooyal, Frederickton, Woolbrook, Toormina, Ulong and Diehard. It was an unforgettable tour through this magnificent country. We saw many indigenous creatures like Platypus, and Emus. We hung out with some amazing folks in all of these towns, villages and cities, hearing their stories and personal experiences with the land and people of Australia. We are so grateful to have been invited to perform on this very special tour and quite blessed to have seen parts of the country that we might have never seen otherwise.

We had a fantastic time at the Tonder Festival in Tonder, Denmark this past August. Some of the greatest audiences we've ever had and some amazing shows on the original stage of the festival to boot. We can't thank Maria and everyone at the festival enough for inviting us to perform this year! We can only hope to one day go back to this spectacular event.

The week after Tonder saw us making our way to the UK for a string of dates. We were honoured to have a headlining spot at the Didmarton Bluegrass Festival, where Cara busted out her amazing dancing banjo skills and wowed the audience. Also a fabulous sold out house concert on the beaches of Whitstable hosted by our good pals Johnny & Anna Fewings. We played the famous Green Note stage in Camden, London where folks squished tightly into the small room and shared a terrific evening of music, stories and laughter. There was a performance in Lewes at the Con Club presented by our friends at Union Music where we met an unforgiving local who almost reported us to the authorities because of how we parked our rental car as we loaded out of the venue. Eek! The tour ended with one night in Wales where we played a brand new venue that specializes in American BBQ cuisine. It was a pleasant surprise to be eating such delicious food and drink accompanied with some very interesting people. One of our super fans drove three hours to watch us perform and three hours home after the show! We have so much love for the people in the UK and can't wait to get back there in the spring of 2018.

This Autumn has already seen us travel twice to Cape Breton, NS and once to North Carolina, USA. We started in Sydney, NS at Contact East where we showcased to talent buyers and concert presenters in hopes of booking more work in 2018-19 seasons. It is such a beautiful part of the country and the people there are incredibly welcoming and friendly. The second time to Cape Breton was for the Celtic Colours Festival. TSG was invited to be apart of the Song House. For six days we wrote songs alongside five other great Canadian songwriters (James Keelaghan, Bruce Guthro, Lynn Miles, and Catherine MacLellan) and then performed them all at the "Songs From Scratch" concert. It was an amazing week of songwriting, cooking, eating, and hanging out with some of the greatest writers in the land. Not to mention a short canoe on the Bras d'Or Lakes and taking part in the World's Smallest Golf Tournament at the Dundee Golf and Resort. After playing best ball rules, everyone finished with the same score. It was too much fun.

We sandwiched in a trip to the IBMA's in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was another music conference where we showcased four times throughout the week, had a booth set up in the trad room, and mingled with a new musical community. We're definitely a folk band, but what a pleasant surprise to be so embraced and welcomed but the wider bluegrass community. We had a wonderful time schmoozing with new friends and hanging with some old pals who happened to show up at the conference to show their support. Much love to you, Robin Willis, for feeding us all week and sending us home with Cane Toad plectrum bags, kisses and memories that will last us a lifetime.

After all these amazing shows and tours we still have a handful of dates ahead of us in Alberta; Saturday, October 21 @ Beneath the Arch in Turner Valley, Friday, October 27 @ The Arden Theatre in St. Albert just outside of Edmonton, AB, and Friday, November 17 @ Fish Creek Concerts in Calgary, AB.

We were so honoured to have been asked to perform at this years Winnipeg Folk Festival. We opened the festival with our first ever performance on the MainStage. It was a magical evening as the sun went down over the festival goers and audience at the main stage. Everything was perfect! We also performed as part of the closing ceremonies and joined our pal Leonard Podolak in a unique double banjo version of The Merry Ellen Carter. To top it all off we became mentors to the young performers who were chosen for this years program. Not to mention performing in some great workshops with our fellow Manitoban artists, Tim O'Brian and Hot Rize, and also an unforgettable afternoon set with the most fabulous Peter Yarrow. It was an incredible festival. http://winnipegfolkfestival.ca

We also flew out west to play the Harrison Festival of the Arts in beautiful Harrison, BC. We performed on the beach twice to amazing audiences and got to hang in the hotel's hot springs for a couple of days too! It was a huge pleasure and such a treat to invited to the festival. https://harrisonfestival.com

Ahead of us this summer, TSG will be on stage at the Harvest Sun Music Festival August 18-20 joining a loaded line up featuring William Prince, Scott Nolan, and ISKWE. We love coming to this part of Canada and performing on the great stages of the will west!

We start April 13 at the Bottega Farm in Kelowna, BC where the Streaming Cafe is presenting us. We have recorded both a full length record and an EP in Kelowna and performed at last years Bottega Festival. We are excited to say the least to be starting our Western leg of the Spring tour at Bottega Farm.
April 14, we bust over the mountains and head straight to Vancouver to perform at Rogue Folk Club in the wonderful neighbourhood of Kitsilano. We have had many fine moments on this stage and we are excited to be taking it again, dirty rugs and all, to bring you our music and song. We will be sharing the stage with our good friends from California, Evie Ladin & Kieth Terry. evieladin.com
Saturday, April 15 we make our way over to Vancouver Island and perform at the Cumberland Hotel for the Vancouver Island Musicfest Concert series. Dog Cox runs an amazing festival in Courtney/Comox, BC and we are so delighted to be heading back to their neck of the woods.
After a short break for Easter we meet up again in Grand Prairie, Alberta to play at the Grand Prairie Live Theatre. Montreal to Hamilton, off and on the 401.

We had a great show in Montreal with Matt Large inviting us to perform on the Casa del Popolo stage on St. Laurent. Spent the day shovelling snow, eating chickenless-chicken soup and shooting the breeze with our good pal, Greg Torrington. A huge thank you to Greg for letting us chill at his classic steep-stepped Montreal apartment.
Next was opening for Stephen Fearing at The Octave Theatre in Kingston. We are so grateful to have had the chance to perform that night. The audience was vibrant and we were on fire. To the folks that made dinner for all the artists, staff and volunteers, you were simply amazing and your food was incredible!

On Saturday we headed south crossing at the Ogdensburg International Bridge and traveled to Saranac Lake, New York where we met up with our friend Linda Fahey and performed a show at their amazing local art gallery. The people there were so gracious and good friends of ours, Jeff and Sue at Beehive Productions, were kind enough to let us stay in their house across the street. Can't wait to get back to that neck of the woods.

Sunday, we ripped right back up to Canada, passed through the nations capital and slipped into the Gatineau Hills to play the Blacksheep Inn. It's been a long time coming for us to be playing this legendary stage and now we have the proof that we did. Our great friend, Randy McNeil, captured the afternoon show, photographing us the way only he can. We have some of the photos on our site.

The next four nights we stayed with our good friends Lewis Mellville and Tannis Slimmon in Guelph. We stayed up late, wrote songs and had shows at Guelph University, The Dakota Tavern in Toronto, opened for Jeremy Fisher at the Dominion Telegraph Centre in Paris, and shared the stage with Sarah Jane Scouten at The Revival House in Stratford with our new friend Barry James Payne at Stringbone Concerts.

Finally we cruised into Hamilton and setup shop at Mills Hardware. Apartently, they still get resumes from folks who want to get a job selling hammers and nails at a REAL hardware store. It was a great evening performing for the steel town audience.

It was short but sweet and we already have plans for coming back to ON! Thanks to all our hosts and promoters for making this a fine tour. And most thanks to all who came out to hear us sing and tell our funny stories. We can't wait to get back to your neck of the woods. TSG was nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards and had many outstanding showcases and performances on the road. Our debut album, Wondrous Traveler, found its way onto many critics' top 10 lists; NPR Folk Alley, Folk Radio UK & Penguin Eggs to name a few.

We had two amazing tours in the UK returning to perform for audiences all across England and Wales. We also had our first performance in Scotland attending the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow opening for The Lone Bellow and selling out of all our merch.

The year saw TSG travelling coast to coast across Canada writing songs in Charlottetown, PEI with Ashley Condon and performing on stage with 5440 at Vancouver Island Musicfest.

Cara has continued with outfitting her new tiny house with appliances and seeks to find that perfect spot for her morning coffee.
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/45182342016-12-20T01:04:51-06:002016-12-20T01:04:51-06:00Wondrous Traveler in the Folk Alley TOP 10 Favourite Albums of 2016
Wow... It was a sold out night playing the Royal Native Oyster Stores in the upstairs ball room. We spent several days in King's Heath (Birmingham) performing two shows for our loyal fanbase there, then headed into Wales for a show in Monmouth. We returned to the Haile Village Hall and performed at Stirring It Up North with our wonderful host Bert and his crew. Haile, Cumbria is in the Lake District in the north west corner of England with the most beautiful farms and fields. It is like being taken back in time exploring this corner of the country. We finished the tour in Scotland being invited to perform at Celtic Connections. We shared the stage with NY based band, The Lone Bellow at the converted downtown church, Òran Mór, translated as 'Big Song". It was an incredible night, selling out of all the EP's we had brought, and connecting with brand new audiences. We are already looking forward to returning to the UK in the coming months and years. Cheers, and thanks again for the Whiskey.
The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/39669192015-12-21T18:35:04-06:002022-01-08T08:51:23-06:00Happy Winter Solstice! TSG played the Moab Folk Music Festival in Moab, UT and shared the stage with the one and only Bruce Cockburn. What an honour it was to share the stage with such a legendary musician and Canadian. We then traveled west through a section of the american desert and the badlands of southern Utah, Arizona, Nevada and southern California. We hung out in the Arches National Park and Bryce Canyon where we saw many amazing wonders of mother nature. The north and south windows, Thors' Hammer and all at over 8000 meters. We then descended past the Moapa Valley made a quick coffee stop in Las Vegas before driving through the Mojave Desert. We saw many tumble weeds, high cliffs, and vast open barren landscapes. Los Angeles was exciting, fast moving and sometimes insane. The traffic is epic and the people are too. We played at the famous Coffee Gallery Backstage where Bob makes every artist feel like they are on the biggest and flashiest stage in the area. I loved how after every song the lights go black to signal the end of the tune. Such great showmanship! After marinating in the hot LA sun and smog we drifted north through Murin County where we played the Sweetwater Music Hall for a full and attentive audience. Then through Oakland & Berkeley and up through the great Redwood Forests where the trees grow as high as skyscrapers and drink in the mist off the cold Pacific Northwest Ocean. We made it Portland and then to a small village called Beaver where we stayed up late and jammed with the locals and finished a big bottle of Tennessee Whiskey. We continued through a strong early winter wind storm to play Seattle and a special show for the great people on Vashon Island. Our last date in the states was in Bellingham where we played for a sold out crowd full of old friends and new fans. It was an epic journey through some of the most beautiful parts of the USA and along with some of the friendliest and most generous people. We took a day to drive north even further over the Canadian border and through the Rocky Mountains with one stop in Jasper and then on to the Northern Lights Folk Club in the great city of Edmonton, Alberta. We had such a great time sharing songs from our self-titled Ep and from our up coming full length record. We met some fantastic folks and discovered some amazing venues. We are back home for a week before heading to Calgary, Alberta to play a show at the new Inglewood Folk Music Club. We hope all our friends from Calgary will come out and join us at the end of the week.
TSG will be back down south next month to play for the good people of California as Cara becomes a Banjo Babe and JD joins in on the fun. Rob & Annie Davis hosted us to a sold out full house and captured a couple of songs from the night. Here is "Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key" words by Woody Guthrie, music by Billy Bragg, Arranged by JD Edwards. We found the song on a record called Mermaid Avenue. Find out more about it here. Cara does a sweet dance in the middle of the tune. It's tough to dance and play the banjo, but she rocked it! Our debut album will be coming out in the spring, we'll be sure to keep you all posted on that. We also have a very cool live video being edited, can't wait to share it with you! In the meantime, keep loving live music! Oh, and find someone you love and give them a big hug :) The Small Gloriestag:thesmallglories.com,2005:Post/31756832014-09-07T11:59:07-05:002021-07-04T03:12:39-05:00New AdventuresWhat an adventure life is! One day you're trucking along, slogging it out, doing what you love to do, wondering what lies around the corner, and you meet up with a fellow muso doing exactly the same thing -- slogging it out, wondering what lies around the corner -- and something magical happens: you discover a beauty in the joining of voices and ideas and creativity, and suddenly you don't feel so alone, you feel energized and excited about what the future holds. Somehow the sum has created something greater than the individual parts. We feel so incredibly lucky, having stumbled upon this new musical partnership, and we're looking forward to sharing our songs and stories with you as we head down this path. Come join us for the ride! - Cara & JDThe Small Glories
